Be brilliant, play cunning, and become versed in craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Modern craps come about from the ancient Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s knights played Hazard through a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when displaced by the English, the French moved south and settled in southern Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the non-winning throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and all over the nation. A great many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the current craps layout. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so players can bet on the dice to not win. At another time, he created the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
