Be brilliant, play clever, and become versed in craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps evolved from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the ancestry of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s soldiers bet on Hazard during a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French relocated down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which was derived from the name of the losing throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi barges and across the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he created the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
