Be smart, play cunning, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Modern craps formed from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is said to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is presumed that Sir William’s knights wagered on Hazard amid a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was derived from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when expelled by the English, the French headed south and discovered sanctuary in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was derived from the name of the non-winning toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi river boats and all over the country. Many consider the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He created the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. At another time, he invented the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
