Be cunning, play brilliant, and master craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is only about one hundred years old. Current craps evolved from the old English game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, but Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s believed that Sir William’s knights played Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the fortress’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when displaced by the English, the French headed south and located refuge in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and all over the country. A great many think the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the modern craps setup. He created the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can bet on the dice to not win. Later, he developed the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
