Be brilliant, play brilliant, and pickup craps the correct way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps formed from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s horsemen enjoyed Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when driven away by the English, the French relocated down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is acquired from the name of the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the country. A great many consider the dice maker John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the current craps setup. He created the Don’t Pass line so players could bet on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he created the spots for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
